ROXANA GARCIA LIOTTA. Director
Hello there! I’d like to thank you for your interest in the conservation of our marine species. Let me tell you a little about myself:
I am the founder and director of the Shark Conservation Program in Argentina. I am a Field Naturalist and Naturalist Interpreter (Escuela Argentina de Naturalistas1), Sworn Translator of English and Spanish (UCA2) and hold a Masters in Environmental Management (National University of San Martín). I specialize in the study of fishing and conservation of chondrichythes (sharks, rays and chimaeras) in Argentina. I perform the role of advisor ad-honorem  to the Management Coordination of the Bahía Blanca, Bahía Falsa and Bahía Verde  Nature Reserve (Buenos Aires Province). I am a member of the PAN-Tiburones3 (Argentina) technical committee. I was named as an expert on sharks by the Comisión Técnica Asesora de Especies Emblemáticas4 in the municipality of Bahía Blanca, Buenos Aires Province. I was instructor for the course on sharks in the Argentine Sea at the Escuela Argentina de Naturalistas. I form part of the international protection network Let Sharks Live. I collaborate with specialized sports fishing journals, contributing with scientific articles. I provide talks and lectures in congresses and numerous institutions. I have spoken at numerous venues, including: La Asociación Ribera Norte5, Aves Argentinas6, Fundación Espacios Verdes7, Museum of Brig. Gen. Cornelio de Saavedra, Club de Náutica y Pesca Villa del Mar8 (Punta Alta, Buenos Aires Province), Rivadavia Library (Bahía Blanca, Buenos Aires Province), and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development for the Nation. I studied several courses on the topic of conservation such as ichthyology, conservational management, rescue and rehabilitation of fauna, veterinary assistance, environmental legislation and the behavior and eco-physiology of marine mammals. I am a founding member of the Asociación Ñande Ybý - Nuestra Tierra9, where I was Director of Conservation and was responsible for the Shark Conservation Program (created by myself) between 2000 and 2010, until I decided to develop the latter independently.

FLAVIA IRUSTA. General Coordinator
Flavia is studying Veterinary Medicine at the National University of Río Cuarto. She has served as a volunteer at the Río Cuarto Ecological Park, Los Glaciares National Park and the El Edén Flora and Fauna - Reserve. She studied the Provincial Park Ranger’s course in Río Cuarto and was also an assistant at a veterinary clinic. She has participated as organizer and/or speaker for courses, workshops and congresses associated with wild fauna and veterinary medicine in wild fauna. She has taken part in numerous conferences, courses and workshops in order to maintain her skills as a veterinary medicine professional. Flavia is a representative for the Shark Conservation Program in the City of Río Cuarto, Córdoba Province.   


CARLOS SARRA PISTONE. Research assistant
Carlos graduated from the National University of Cuyo in Industrial Engineering. He is a qualified diving instructor (Open Water Scuba Instructor PADI), with training in deep water diving, rescue diving, first aid. He is also a trainer of advanced diving and divemaster. He is currently working as an audiovisual specialist for SubSur Producciones as a submarine camera operator as well as an independent film maker for documentaries, naturalist and submarine productions, and social events. Carlos is a representative for the Shark Conservation Program in the City of Puerto Madryn, Chubut Province.

CHRISTIAN R. PEREZ LEON
Christian is a lawyer, who graduated from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), and a PADI-certified Open Water Advanced scuba diver. In February, 2004 he was selected by the Bimini Biological Field Station to spend one month with the Sharklab work team, which studies the biology of the Lemon Shark (Negaprion brevirostris) in the Bahamas. This work was carried out under the supervision of the outstanding specialist Dr. Samuel Gruber. Whilst in the Bahamas, he also carried out field-work with other shark species, such as the tiger shark (Galeocerdo cuvier) and the bull shark (Carcharhinus leucas). He was coordinator of the Shark Conservation Program between 2001 and 2011.
VERÓNICA JAUSORO
Verónica graduated from the University of Luján with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences specializing in Ecology. She currently works as a researcher on the trophic levels of chondrichthyes in the San Matías Gulf, and is also member of the Grupo de Estudio de Peces Cartilaginosos CONDROS12. She provides instruction as an assistant professor for the course on Animal Biology IV – Vertebrates  at the National University of Luján, and as a professor of Biology at the Colegio San Patricio, in Lujan. In 2006 she was a research assistant for the White Shark Trust, which is a research organization for great white shark (Carcharadon carcharias) conservation  in South Africa. She is a scuba diver and holds a PADI Open Water Diver certification. She worked as a researcher in the Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory at the National University Luján. She has participated in numerous courses, including “Topics on systematics, ecology and conservation of fish” (UBA13), “Otoliths and their application in the conservation of biodiversity” (UBA), “Illegal trafficking, rescue and rehabilitation of wild animals (Buenos Aires Zoo), and “Marine mammals” (Buenos Aires Zoo). She has performed the role of research assistant for the Shark Conservation Program since 2004.

MIRIAM N. IVALDI
Miriam has an advanced vocational qualification in Environmental Management (CENT N° 22). She is also a field naturalist and naturalist interpreter (Escuela Argentina de Naturalistas). She is an instructional guide at the Bernardino Rivadavia Argentine Natural Sciences Museum. She studied two years of Veterinary medicine. She has undertaken numerous courses in order to perfect her skills, including Animal Rights Defense, Behavior of Small Animals, First Aid for Small Animals (ADDA), Workshops on the Trafficking of Fauna, Farm and Zoo Animals (Buenos Aires Zoo), and Marine Pollution (Friends Association of the Bernardino Rivadavia Argentine Natural Sciences Museum).
